Its own door off the lane, on the ground floor where the horses were once stabled. Full-height timber panelling, built-in bookcases, mood lighting and a large wetroom shower make for a snug, characterful retreat.

The Bield

First floor · the sheltered studio · sleeps 2

Bield is the old Scots word for shelter. A calm, warm first-floor refuge — reached through the shared mews foyer — that lives up to its name.

Up under the rafters where the hay was once stored. Original beams, a rooflight full of Edinburgh sky, and the cosiest bed in the mews.
